Getting a Quote
- How quickly can I get a quote?
- Submit the form on any product page and we'll call you within 60 seconds during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CT). After hours, our AI assistant Ally answers immediately and a licensed agent follows up first thing the next morning.
- Is there any obligation when I request a quote?
- None at all. A quote is information only — no coverage is bound online, and you're under no obligation to buy anything. We'll give you an honest number and let you decide.
- Do I need to come into an office?
- Never. We're a remote-first agency — everything is handled by phone, text, and email. We do have an office at 941 Hillwind Rd NE, Fridley, MN 55432 if you prefer to meet in person.
- What information do I need to get a quote?
- For auto: vehicle year/make/model, driver's license numbers, current insurer. For home: property address, year built, square footage, current insurer. We'll walk you through everything on the call.
Auto Insurance
- What does auto insurance cover?
- A standard policy includes liability (bodily injury and property damage), collision, comprehensive, and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. We can also add roadside assistance, rental reimbursement, and gap coverage.
- Can I insure multiple vehicles on one policy?
- Yes. Multi-vehicle policies typically earn a discount and simplify your billing and renewals to a single date.
- What factors affect my auto insurance rate?
- Driving record, vehicle type, age, ZIP code, annual mileage, and coverage limits all factor in. Bundling with home insurance is one of the fastest ways to lower your premium.
Home Insurance
- What does home insurance cover?
- A standard homeowners policy covers the dwelling structure, personal property, liability, and additional living expenses if your home becomes uninhabitable. We can also add flood, sewer backup, and valuable items riders.
- Is flood damage covered by standard home insurance?
- No. Flood damage requires a separate flood insurance policy. If you're in a flood zone or want peace of mind, ask us about flood coverage options.
- What's the difference between replacement cost and actual cash value?
- Replacement cost pays what it actually costs to rebuild or replace an item today. Actual cash value deducts for depreciation. Replacement cost coverage costs more but protects you fully after a loss.
Life Insurance
- What's the difference between term and permanent life insurance?
- Term life covers you for a set period (10, 20, or 30 years) and is the most affordable option. Permanent life (whole or universal) covers you for life and builds cash value over time. Most families start with term and add permanent coverage as income grows.
- How much life insurance do I need?
- A common rule of thumb is 10–12× your annual income, but the right amount depends on your debts, dependents, and financial goals. We'll help you model out the right number — no pressure.
- Can I get life insurance without a medical exam?
- Yes. American Family offers simplified-issue policies that don't require a full medical exam for qualifying applicants. Ask us about no-exam options when you call.
Bundling & Discounts
- How much can I save by bundling home and auto?
- Bundling home and auto with American Family typically saves 10–25% on both policies. It also means one agent, one bill, and one renewal date — far less hassle.
- What other discounts are available?
- Common discounts include multi-vehicle, good driver, new home, loyalty, paperless billing, and autopay. We'll apply every discount you qualify for — just ask.
